Better than good, but not exceptional... | Arend Hart from West Michigan says (31/Oct/2001): | Acclaim has a good game here. The PSone just doesn't have the hootspah to pull it off. Great ideas, great design, attention to detail, all's good. All except the frame rate, that is.
DMFBMX:MR is much better than the original in many ways. With added courses and music, and with entirely different challenges on the old courses, it's great. It seems that they even did some tweaking to speed it up a little. But a little doesn't cut it 100% of the time. In some instances, things slow down to a snail's pace based on the background or glowing boxes or whatever, and it severely affects the game.
The level design and trick system are awesome. The framerate is terrible. You can learn to live with it, but deep down inside, it'll leave a slightly sour taste in your mouth.
| This game kicks @$$ | | En!GmA from Ohio, USA says (22/Jun/2002): | Ok check it. I own the game. And I admit I expected better since it was the remix. But all in all it is almost perfect. The music is awesome. The graphics are pretty good. But you can't beat the game with many people. Like I beat it with three people and all the game options were opened, but when I beat the game with the fourth guy, it said it opened wide screen and super wide screen. But I couln't find them at all in game option. Someone told me it was because the list was full and it wouldn't add anymore. I would like it if they would have added the farm stage to two player but nothing yet. I am working on beating the game with every body and all golds across the screen, so far no prob. The game does go sluggish in some parts. Such as the mini mart. If U try to do many tricks in the corner off to the right when you start, when you get up by the light the game slows down alot. Too many graphics to process at one time. Now I got about 55 different PSX games, this is one of my favs. The controls are simple yet complex. If you played Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, then you shouldn't have a problem adapting to the controls at all. I admit when I started I got ripped on by the fam, I sucked. But after about two weeks and many snacks later, I am now untouchable. I score an average of about 250,000 each 2 minute run. And I make it look good. I have also noticed that each player has a "special" move, no detail to what yet, still figureing it out. Like Leigh can pull off the double frontflip, and Dave Mirra can pull off the triple backflip. I can barely get these to work cause of height problems, but when U do the score just racks up. Here I will give em to U, double front flip UUU[] it's just that simple, the triple backflip DDD[]. Also I came across another problem. After beating the game it says BMX2-UUDDLRRL now if anyone knows what this is and/or where to put it in at pleez e-mail me at enigmasplaypen< remove me > at hotmail.com as I am stumped. I feel like an idiot cuz I look at myself as a game guru but have no clue what so ever about this one. Anyhow the game should have gotten a ten, but nothing is perfect.
Total(avg.) 8.1
I've seen better (DRIVER) then again I also seen alot worse (BLASTO and many more)
An extra point, gotta love the fact that it is Dave Mirra, and the endless possibility of combos. Total 9
