The Bottom Line -
Core Design Designs conversion of Fighting Force 2 for the Dreamcast is the epitome of bad game design. Usually more tedious than fun, this 3D action slugfest lacks character and substance. Poor level design, prehistoric enemy AI, and lackluster graphics will persuade most gamers to look elsewhere.
A Closer Look -
After Eidos released the tragedy that was Fighting Force for the PlayStation, one would have expected them to learn form their mistakes. The original game had horrible play mechanics and was a chore to play. Unfortunately Eidos seemingly has learned nothing from their last mistake and churned out another title plagued with problems.
Upon popping in the GD-ROM, players are told a story of how in the near future the world is controlled by trans-national corporations. The State Intelligence police, or SI-COPS, composed of cybernetically enhanced humans, has the role of keeping these corporations honest. One corporation in particular, the Knackmiche Corporation, has been up to no good, and its up to SI-COPS to infiltrate the headquarters and destroy key information and equipment. Players take control of Hawk Manson, a character from the first Fighting Force game.
